Aprodev's strong message to EU
As world leaders prepare to attend the climate change summit in New York and the G20 meeting later this month, Aprodev is asking EU leaders to deal with the climate crises and povety.
In a statement delivered by Rob Van Drimmelen, the general secretary of Aprodev, reminded the EU Heads of States that: "The truth is that climate change is putting all progress on poverty eradication at risk."
The European leaders are scheduled to meet ahead of the New York meeting, to prepare an EU position. Aprodev is in this respect demanding a "constructive, ambitious and equitable EU offer on climate finance, which could provide crucial input to the UN and G20 summits in September, and much needed momentum to the UNFCCC negotiations leading up to COP 15 in December."
